(This is a long page now, hope you have broadband or it could take ages to load.)
You still see Lindys for sale, most especially on eBay Motors. Here are some pics I have collected over the last 12 months or more. These are all gasoline-fuelled, I have not yet seen another diesel. These all seem to be in good to excellent condition for their age - further proof of a quality manufacturer.
This is a Layton Lindy conversion on a 1976 Dodge Sportsman chassis. Note the squared-off house corners and twin rear wheels. Entry door behind rear axle can mean bunks, but usually denotes rear bath layout.
Absolutely MINT condition 20' conversion on slightly later Sportsman. This one was a credit to it's previous owner - a Judge! Note the two little windows stacked on top of one another at the rear - bunk beds!
20' conversion on a 1979 Chevrolet. Smoother leading edge to bodywork, little window behind dinette means kitchen is against this wall, wardrobes on other side, so again is rear bath layout. Note how far high section of roofline goes back.
Very tidy 20' conversion on a nice Dodge chassis - this one might even have the super desireable 360 motor under the doghouse! Note that this one is almost identical to the van above it.
Very like our own Lindy - though layout is different (rear bath again). Note huge overcab bed and heater and fridge vents on this side. This is also a 24' conversion on Chevy G30.
1984 Lindy on Chevrolet, but substantially different to our own. Sharp body corners and the lack of rear wheelarch mouldings suggest an earlier year, but apparently not. This one has a rear dinette layout that spans the width of the van.
This is an '84 conversion on a Ford chassis - note the different layout, rock 'n' roll sofabed with revolving chairs to add to the indoor entertainment ability. Same upholstery as ours - it's called 'Willow Rust'.
No real details but kitchen this side and no bunk windows suggest rear bath layout, again apparently 1984 van chassis.
Cute little Lindy in California - love those later stripes. This is a 1986 model. The layout is rear dinette - it's a 4 berth.
Super-looking Lindy on GMC chassis, this van was stripped internally and is now a TV outside broadcast vehicle for an American college.
This is an '88 23 footer on Ford running gear, notice the very deep side window. This 'van has an unusual side dinette (this side), the bathroom is opposite and there is a second u-shaped dinette at the back.
1987 24' on Ford, love the colours & the big mirrors. Also love that panoramic window, must get one of those.
Very nice 57,000 mile 1986 example in almost new condition.
Interior of above van - totally spotless and so bright inside with light trim.
Very clean machine, a credit to the original owners!
'77 Dodge Layton Lindy with 360 motor and 4 speed trans. Owner has spent $4000 in parts remodelling it over last two years...nice old girl.
Remodelled interior of above '77 Dodge - looks great.
Call me sad but I love these things. They are brilliant. This is an '89 23 footer on proper G30 underpinnings. Note how far forward the roof air is.
Under 50K miles and in great condition.
Nice layout, though not a huge fan of the trim colour, or that high cupboard by the door (ouch).
Should ring a few bells - same as ours though not a diesel.
I really like the later grille and dual lights.
Retrimmed at some stage, like the table colour though.
How can a microwave above head level ever be considered a good idea?
'86 26' on Ford chassis - great colours.
Inside the 26 footer; note the twin beds! More length also means you can have separate shower and wc cubicles.
This was muralist Karen Hetzer's Lindy. Karen tried to 'paint herself around America' in Gladys but sold her a while back.
Karen radically altered her Lindy's interior.
Nice old '79 Dodge
Side 'lounge' dinette with opposing couch.
Rear bath layout and 2-seat dinette means this is a four berth.
This 23' 1988 Ford is now living in Canada (see our guestbook). Note the high window behind the cab - side bath.
Nice layout on the 88 Ford, rear dinette and side dinette. Two seperate lounge areas is a great idea. This particular layout is great for kids as it has an overcab double, there's a drop down bed over the rear dinette and the side folds down into a double - a 7 berth!
Lovely 1983 2211 model on Ford chassis. This one had only done 52k miles.
The 2211 has a rear bath layout which cuts down on the number of beds. This one was in Arizona, very clean throughout and sold for just under $7,000.
2211 layout - no side entry door at the front of the camper body gives a very big 'lounge area' which is nice.
This was a '79 with bunks - really like bunks in a camper, will get them in there next time round. Look at the condition of this van - absolutely beautiful.
This little honey is a 1978 Layton Lindy with just 79k miles on the clock. It sold for a paltry $2,900 on US eBay. What a bargain, it looks absolutely spotless.
How clean can you get? There are 1998 vans out there that look worse than this, and this is 20 years older!
Look at this interior - how incredibly well preserved. They really built these vans to last. All this one needs is to be parked in my driveway. A 440-powered camper in this kind of shape for under $3k - I should have bought it!
Absolutely beautiful condition 1984 24' rear bath model for sale privately in Washington state. Click on the picture to go to the ad.
Proper party layout with the big drop side windows, excellent.
Big kitchen for rear bath layout, most of these are 21feet long and that usually means a lot less galley space.
Nice 1981 23' Ford which had bunks and was for sale in Utah for only $3k. Bargain.
One of the very last - a 24' 1990 on rare Chevy chassis - this would be a nice one to own.
Nice 1988 23' Ford with BUNKS!
Bunk conversion is really superb, would love them on mine.
1991 was the last year of the Lindys, and this super 26 foot Ford dates from that final year.
The 26 footer has a very nice layout, great for entertaining or for days out with some extra in-laws on board or something
